Obituary of Robert W. "Bobby" Cooper
Mr. Robert Wilson “Bobby” Cooper, a resident of Dothan and formerly of Ozark, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 3, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 86 years old.
Funeral services for Mr. Cooper will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 7, 2025, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Harold Peters officiating. Private interment will be at a later date in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Monday from 1:00 P. M. until time for the service.
Mr. Cooper was born June 16, 1938 in Ariton, Alabama to the late Wilson Colvie Cooper and Marwood Weed Cooper. He was a devoted husband and father who had a humble heart. Bobby loved the outdoors and country music. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #349 in Ozark and received his fifty-year pin in March 2017. He was also a member of the Dothan Scottish Rite. Mr. Cooper met his wife Mary Willoughby on a blind date in 1958 and they were married in 1960. They lived in Ozark until 2016 when they moved to Dothan to be closer to their family. In the 1960’s Mr. Cooper worked with Walter Hand Ford and Dominy Chevrolet in Ozark. He was self-employed in the 1970’s with a trucking business. In 1980 he began working with various aircraft maintenance contractors at Fort Rucker, retiring in 2004. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Cooper Stokes. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Mary G. Willoughby Cooper of Dothan; one son, Robert Daniel Cooper (Jana) of Ashford; one daughter, Gwen Cooper Smith (Mike) of Dothan; three grandchildren, Jessica Smith Welch (Matthew), Justin Smith (Mary Kate) and Marissa Smith; great grandchildren, Amelia Welch, Anderson Smith, Landon Smith, Weston Welch and Marshall Smith (Baby on The Way). The family would like to express their thanks to DaySpring Hospice for their loving care.
