Obituary of Christine Hartzog Segars Hunt
Mrs. Christine Hartzog Segars Hunt, a resident of Skipperville, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at her home. She was 88 years old.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hunt will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 7, 2025, from Salem Baptist Church with Reverend Harold Peters and Reverend Phil Craddock officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends in the church Saturday from 12:30 P.M. until service time. Serving as pallbearers will be Adam Segars, Don McCall, Craig Baldwin, Corey Baldwin, Hunter Segars and Jonathan Allen.
Christine was born October 15, 1936 in Barbour County, Alabama to the late Thomas Albert Hartzog, Jr. and Reger Mae Baker Hartzog. She grew up in the Doster Community and attended Elamville School and Barbour County High School. In 1953 Christine married the love of her life Gene Segars. Christine was truly a Proverbs 31 woman. She was a talented seamstress and a wonderful cook. She loved to entertain guests and never let anyone leave without a snack or piece of pie. Gardening was her favorite hobby and she could make anything grow. A visit from any of her grandchildren or great grandchildren truly made her day. Christine was a member of Salem Baptist Church. She was attending Asbury Methodist Church where she was loved by many. She worked with the Roses Store in Ozark for thirteen years, Ozark Headstart for thirteen and one-half years and with Park Memorial Pre-School. Christine was an avid Alabama fan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Edward Eugene Segars and John Hunt; and three brothers, Thomas Hartzog, Ergle Hartzog and Nigel Hartzog.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and JoAnn Segars of Andalusia; one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Ronnie Baldwin of Skipperville; three grandchildren, Adam Segars (Crystal), Craig Baldwin (Elizabeth) and Corey Baldwin (Shavonna); five great grandchildren, Hunter Segars, Hanna Allen (Jonathan), Gene Baldwin, Reighlon Baldwin and Rayleigh Baldwin; a special friend, James Davis. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family would like to express their thanks to Community Hospice and Ashley Simms.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in her memory to Salem Baptist Church, 3336 County Road 23, Skipperville, AL 36374.
