Obituary of Allen Lane Bates

Mr. Allen Lane Bates, a resident of Ozark, died Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at his home. He was 61 years old. In keeping with the wishes of his family, there are no public services planned for Mr. Bates. Holman Funeral Home of Ozark has been entrusted with the arrangements. Mr. Bates was born July 14, 1964 in Battle Creek, Michigan to the late Marion Allison Bates and Billie Anna Weaver Bates. He was a 1982 graduate of Carroll High School where he was a member of the CHS Tennis Team. He joined the Alabama Army National Guard in 1983 and served as an Administrative Specialist. Mr. Bates made the rank of Sergeant following seventeen years of service. He enjoyed reading God’s word and playing tennis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Vera Kelley Weaver. Survivors include one sister, Linda Karen Bates of Ozark; one brother, Robert Weaver Bates (Lori) of Rosepine, Louisiana; and his companion, Laura Lisenby Scott of Ozark.
