James William “Jimmy” Bruner, 86, formerly of Ozark, Alabama, currently of Panama City Beach, passed away on Tuesday, August 26. 2025. He was born in Dale County, Alabama on February 6, 1939. Heritage Shores Funeral Home in Panama City Beach, Florida in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends beginning at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Heritage Shores Funeral Home, 7714 Front Beach Road, Panama City Beach, Florida 32407. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel in Panama City Beach. The family will also have a Celebration of Life on Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., at Bethel Methodist Church, 6084 County Road 36 in Ozark.
As a young man, he worked hard helping run the family farm. He enlisted in the Army and served during the Korean occupation. After the war, he was stationed at Arlington, Virginia as an MP. After his discharge, he became a master plumber and pipe fitter, working for a major contractor in the Arlington and Washington, D.C. area. Upon returning to Ozark, he was employed by Ozark Plumbing, Heating and Electric where he worked as plumbing foreman and supervisor. He later became the proud owner of Bruner Plumbing and Electrical and was sought out for many projects. Known for his strong working ethic and meticulous attention to detail, Jimmy inspired those around him to take pride in their efforts. Jimmy was a faithful and devoted husband and a dedicated and loving father and grandfather. He took great pride in not only his children’s and grandchildren’s achievements, but in those that he mentored. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Maxwell “Max” and Dorthy “Dot” Ard Bruner; son, Steven Outlaw; grandson, Lane Bruner; sisters and brothers-in-law, Diane Sanders (Irwin), Nina Bowman (Jesse); in-laws, Joseph Crumlish, Sam Crumlish (Jean), Annabelle Wright (Malcolm) and Bob Murdoch. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 50 years, Elizabeth H. Bruner; sons, James Burton “Burt” Bruner (Sheanea) of Headland, AL and Scott L. Outlaw of Ariton, AL; grandchildren, Ryan Outlaw (Caressa), Strauss L. Outlaw, Kelton C. Bruner and Janel Crenshaw (Nick); great-grandchildren, Rosalyn Crenshaw and Hovey Crenshaw; in-laws, Joann Murdoch, Douglas Crumlish (Rosaleen), and Jean Crumlish; along with several dearly loved nieces and nephews in the United States, Scotland and England.
