Obituary of Virginia Rose Pierce
Mrs. Virginia Rose Pierce, 86, of Dothan, Alabama, passed away peacefully at her home on November 12, 2025. A graveside service was held for Mrs. Pierce 12:00 p.m. Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Bellflower Cemetery in Bellflower, Missouri. Holman Funeral Home of Ozark was entrusted with local arrangements.
Born on August 5, 1939, in Manila, Arkansas, she was the daughter of John Marion Bingaman and Georgia A. (Tatum) Bingaman. Virginia graduated from Ferguson High School in 1957 and worked for many years as a secretary. She also devoted her life to caring for her family, which she considered her greatest calling. On February 6, 1959, she married the love of her life, Curtis O’Neal Pierce, in University City, Missouri. Together, Virginia and Curtis founded several churches—one of which began in Fulton, Missouri, before relocating to Columbia. Later, they moved to Chicago, Illinois, and they established several more. With steadfast faith and dedication, they led a Bible study group to Illinois and built a beautiful church with their own hands. Many of these churches continue to serve their communities today. As a minister’s wife, Sunday school teacher, and devoted servant of God, Virginia touched countless lives through her kindness, hospitality, and unwavering faith. Family was the heart of Virginia’s world. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them. She was known for her delicious cookies—baking them was her favorite pastime—and for her creativity and skill in knitting, crocheting, and sewing during her younger years. Virginia lived life to the fullest and found great joy in traveling and experiencing God’s creation. She proudly visited all 50 states, some more than once, and even drove a motorhome to Alaska—missing only one state in her beloved RV. Her adventures also took her overseas, including two cherished trips to Israel. She filled photo album after photo album with memories of her many travels shared with family.
Virginia’s life was a testament to love, faith, and joy. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her, but her legacy of devotion, laughter, and adventure will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. She is survived by her daughter, Amy Bauer; daughters-in-law, Vilinda Pierce and Ellen Pierce; grandchildren: Curtis (Amber) Pierce III, Rebecca Pierce, Austin (Deziree) Pierce, Dallas Bauer, Eliana (Tim) Winfrey, Danica Pierce, Alexandra “Rosie” Pierce, and Austin Pierce; great-grandchildren: Avalon Pierce, Saphira Pierce, and Gideon Pierce; sister-in-law, Ada Belle Dunlap; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Curtis Pierce; sons, Curtis Pierce Jr. and Douglas Pierce; great-grandson, Levi Pierce; parents, John and Georgia Bingaman; son-in-law, Henry Bauer; and siblings, James (Priscilla) Bingaman and Barbara (Adam) Caran.
