Mr. Bobby Harmon Parr, a resident of Ozark, passed away at his home Sunday, January 25, 2026, after a prolonged illness. He was 86 years old.
The family invites all who knew Bobby to join in a Celebration of Life and fellowship honoring him 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 30, 2026, at Peniel Baptist Church (2710 County Road 41 in Skipperville, Alabama 36374). Visitation begins at 9:30 A.M. followed by services officiated by Reverend Tim McCraney. Interment will follow the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Serving as active pallbearers will include nephews, Nathan Parr, Jeffery Parr; great nephews, Gavin Parr, Graham Parr, Aiden Hill and Gregory Richter all of Florida. Honorary pallbearers include Max Dasinger, Rickey Herring, Glen Miller, Braxton Bell and Terry Spivey of Skipperville.
Mr. Parr was born March 10, 1939 in Blue Springs, Alabama to the late Nathan Jackson Parr and Vera Bell Wilkinson Parr. At Blue Springs School, Bobby developed his lifelong love of learning (especially math and science) and enjoyed playing football and basketball. After graduating in 1959, Bobby earned a degree in Advanced Math and Science from Troy State College, an Advanced Master’s in The Art of Teaching from Montevallo University, and post-graduate degrees and certifications from Troy State University, all Summa Cum Laude. He served for over forty years with the Ozark City Schools as teacher, principal, administrator and director of various programs and schools, making him a much-loved and respected presence in the community. His unwavering love of the Lord, devotion to learning, and sense of humor touched the lives of everyone who knew him, leaving behind a legacy of wisdom and caring leadership. While we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the remarkable and meaningful life he lived.
Bobby was preceded in death by his son, Bradley Lee Parr; his parents, Nathan Jackson Parr and Vera Bell Wilkinson Parr; brothers, Roby Gerald Parr and Charles Reginal Parr; and sister, Jacqueline Parr Ryals. He is survived by his wife, Barbara June Layton Parr; daughter, Laura Dawn Parr; son and daughter-in-law, Michael Chad and Brandy Spivey Parr; grandchildren, Olivia Parr Portwood, Ava Tristen Parr, and Bradley Jace Parr; great grandchild, Ella Portwood; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy Ray and Barbara Dean Parr; and cherished extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made in his memory to Peniel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1056 County Road 41, Skipperville, Alabama 36374.
