Annie Ruth Hardy Obituary

Mrs. Annie Ruth Gray Hardy, a beloved mother, grandmother, teacher, and faithful servant of the Lord, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family Monday, April 6, 2026.

A memorial service for Mrs. Hardy will be held 11:00 A. M. Wednesday, April 15, 2026, in Chalkhead Baptist Church with Reverend Michael Woodham officiating, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Wednesday in the church from 10:00 A. M. until service time.

She was born February 1, 1930 in Ty Ty, Georgia, the daughter of the late Berta and Flem Gray and the oldest of nine siblings --- a role she carried with strength, grace, and deep love throughout her life. Annie Ruth was the devoted wife of 71 years to her husband, Charles N. Hardy, with whom she built a life rooted in faith, family, and unwavering commitment. Together, they raised five children: Nanci Williams (Hank), Charles N. Hardy II (Cheryl), Deena Strickland (Wes), Greg Hardy, and Chere Johnson (Jamie). She was a proud and loving grandmother to ten grandchildren: Claire Solomon, Curtis Solomon (Thais), Neal Hardy (Jessie), Matt Hardy, Paden Hardy, Hayden Alford (Alex), Kade Strickland, Gray Johnson, Trace Johnson, and Ansley Johnson. Her legacy continues through her eight great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy. Annie Ruth dedicated 32 years of her life to teaching, shaping countless young minds with patience, wisdom, and compassion. Her impact extended far beyond the classroom, as she lived out her calling with kindness and integrity. A devoted Christian, Annie Ruth’s life was a testament to her faith. She led by example—loving others deeply, serving selflessly, and trusting God through every season of life. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, and steadfast love will be remembered by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but joyfully remembered as a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of her Savior.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in her memory to Chalkhead Baptist Church, 495 County Road 35, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
