Obituary of Wade B. Shrivalle

Mr. Wade Brown Shrivalle, 88, a resident of Ozark since 1996, died Monday evening, December 27, 2004, in Dale Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be 3:30 P. M. Thursday, December 30, 2004, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Joe Reams and Reverend Marty Hamilton officiating, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at Holman Funeral Home in Ozark from 6:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. Wednesday evening. Mr. Shrivalle was born March 20, 1916 in Savannah, Georgia. He joined the United States Post Office in 1935 in Augusta, Georgia and retired as Chief Fraud Inspector of the Atlanta Division in 1971. He was nationally recognized as an expert breeder, flyer, and judge of racing pigeons. He was a member of Charleston, South Carolina Power Squadron, Charleston Yacht Club, German Friendly Society, 32nd Degree Mason of Landmark Lodge in Charleston. He was a member of The Old Saint Andrews Episcopal Church in Charleston and attended the First United Methodist Church of Ozark. He was a member of the Dale County Auburn Club. Mr. Shrivalle was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Francine Amon Shrivalle. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Douglas Cowart, Ozark, two sons, Wade B. Shrivalle, Jr., Stone Mountain, Georgia, and Ralph L. Shrivalle, Orlando, Florida, seven grandchildren, Melanie T. Mack, Blythewood, South Carolina, Wade B. Shrivalle, III, Franklin, Tennessee, Dawn L. Simpson, Allen, Texas, Autumn C. Backwell, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Douglas L. Cowart, Tupelo, Mississippi, Matthew C. Shrivalle, Orlando, Florida, Susannah L. Shrivalle, Orlando, Florida. Five great grandchildren also survive. The Men's Club of Ozark First United Methodist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in his memory to Ozark First United Methodist Church Family Life Center, 167 East Broad Street, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
