Obituary of Eldon C. Hodnefield

Mr. Eldon C. "Slim" Hodnefield, Sr., age 71, of Daleville, died at his home late Saturday evening, November 12, 2005 following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 1:00 P .M. Wednesday, November 16, 2005, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Pastor Stewart Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory in Headland, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at Holman Funeral Home in Ozark from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Tuesday evening. Mr. Hodnefield was born March 3, 1934 Battle Lake, Minnesota. He served for 22 years in the United States Army working in food services. Following his military service, Mr. Hodnefield attended Wallace College receiving a degree in Woodworking and Upholstery. He owned and operated C & H Upholstery Shop in Newton for 20 years. He was a member of The Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Hilde Hodnefield, Daleville, one daughter, Debbie Parsley and her husband, Dennis, Holmen, Wisconsin, five sons, Terry Hodnefield and his wife, Debbie, Devol, Oklahoma, Eldon Hodnefield, Jr. and his wife, Diane, Vergas, Minnesota, Thomas Hodnefield and Robert Hodnefield, Frazee, Minnesota, and Thomas Holmes, Deltona, Florida, two sisters-in-law, Christa Tinlin and her husband, Phillip, Hartsel, Colorado, and Herta Crawford and her husband, John, Kemner, Texas, a special niece, Patricia Bylsma and her husband, Otto, Daleville, two brothers, Melvin Hodnefield and his wife, Carol, Vergas, Minnesota, and Norman Hodnefield and his wife, Juanita, Battle Lake, Minnesota. Eleven grandchildren and other relatives also survive. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Wiregrass Hospice, the staff of Southeast Alabama Medical Center, and to Dr. Rodney Beauchamp and his staff.
