Obituary of David Wilson Hagler

Mr. David Hagler, age 50, of Slocomb, died Monday, April 30, 2007, at his home. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Wednesday, May 2, 2007, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Claude Adams and Reverend William B. Easterling officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 P. M. Wednesday until service time at 2:00 P. M. Mr. Hagler was born August 9, 1956 in Columbus, Georgia to Lillie Grace Faulk Hagler and the late Arthur Porter Hagler. He graduated from Skipperville High School and served for 20 years in the United States Army Reserves, Battery C, 117th Field Artillery Unit in Ariton. He owned and operated Affordable Garden Service in Slocomb. Mr. Hagler was an avid short round track race car driver at Opp for many years. He was known as "The Blooming Idiot". He was an antique and animal lover. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brothers, Reverend Dr. Donald W. Hagler. Survivors include his wife, Valerie Angela Hagler of Slocomb, one daughter and son-in-law, Candis Hagler Steele and her husband, Derek of Orange Park, Florida, step-children, Valerie Kidd of Slocomb and J. L. Church of Melbourne, Florida, his mother, Mrs. Lillie Grace Faulk Hagler of Ariton, one sister, Diane Hagler of Panama City, Florida, one brother, Dennis Hagler of Troy. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Salem Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Mr. Don Johnson, P. O. Box 196, Skipperville, Alabama 36374.
