Obituary of James Robert Wood

Mr. James Robert Wood, 69, of Ariton, died Sunday, June 11, 2017, following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be graveside 2:30 P. M. Wednesday, June 14, 2017, in Center Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. Interment will follow with Military Honors, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Wednesday from 1:00 P. M. until time to depart for the service.
Mr. Wood was born July 14, 1947 in Durham, North Carolina to the late James Edwin Wood and Gwendolyn Page Wood. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and was awarded two Bronze Stars for his service in Vietnam. Mr. Wood had a passion for genealogy, wood working, and reading. He loved his family and his dog, Sophie.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Glenn Wood of Ariton; one daughter and son-in-law, Jami and Jay Twisdale of Raleigh, North Carolina; two sons and daughters-in-law, James W. and Tiffany Wood of Monroe, New York, Rick and Rhonda Cordle of Dothan; six grandchildren, Elaina Wood and Aubrey Wood of Monroe, New York, Wyatt Twisdale and Ava Twisdale of Raleigh, North Carolina, Richard (Christine) Cordle and Hunter Cordle of Dothan; two great grandchildren, Aiden Cordle and Charlotte Cordle.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Masonic Home for Children, 600 West College Street, Oxford, North Carolina 27565.
