Obituary of Christopher R. Langheld

Mr. Christopher Reynolds "Chris" Langheld, Jr., age 77, of Ozark, died Tuesday evening, November 28, 2006, at his home following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 10:00 A. M. Friday, December 1, 2006, from Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church with Reverend O'Neal Brown and Mr. Tom Bogie officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home directing. Mr. Langheld's body will be placed in the Church one hour prior to service time on Friday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Thursday evening. Mr. Langheld was born February 19, 1929 in Minden, Louisiana to the late Minnie Ola Miller Langheld and Christopher Reynolds Langheld, Sr. Christopher served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was an active member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church where he served as Chairman of The Official Board. Mr. Langheld also served as District President of the United Methodist Men's Association. Mr. Langheld worked with Civil Service for 32 years, retiring as a Radar Technician. He was an avid fisherman who loved traveling in his motor home and gardening. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his parents, Mr. Langheld was preceded in death by his son, Richard Glen Langheld,two sisters, Nelwyn King and Margaret Scheiern, and one brother, Danny Langheld. Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Mae Chumney Langheld of Ozark, one daughter, Adonna Benz and her husband, Kellen of Mandan, North Dakota, three sisters, Ruby Watson of Minden, Louisiana, Violet Goodwin of Arlington, Washington, and Carolyn Duncan of Highlands, Texas, four grandchildren, Shannon Swain, Jeremy David Morrison, Angela Rene Morrison, and John Anthony Peters, three great grandchildren, Ethan Swain, Brandi and Brooke Morrison. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Building Fund, C/O Miss Shirley Chancey, 4399 East Andrews Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360, or to The Gideons International, P.
