Obituary of Imogene Richardson Weed

Mrs. Imogene Richardson Weed, of Ariton, died Wednesday evening, May 11, 2016, at her home. She was 90 years old. A memorial service for Mrs. Weed was held 2:00 P. M. Sunday, May 15, 2016, in the chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with Reverend Bill Weed officiating, Holman Funeral Home directing. Imogene (Jean) Richardson Weed was born Nov. 15, 1925 to Henry Eudon Richardson and Eunola Peacock Richardson. She was raised in Kinsey, Alabama and moved to Panama City, Florida to work as a welder at the Wainwright Ship Yard during World War II. She took her savings and put herself through Florida Barber and Beauty College in Jacksonville, Florida and returned to Panama City and worked as a hairdresser until she married Luther Weed. They both enjoyed a long traveling career with the Air Force and retired in 1971 to Ariton. During their retirement they were active in square dancing with the Do-Sa-Do's of Dothan and traveled to Russia and China and around the U.S. and Canada by train. She played with several area bridge clubs and was president for several years of the Ozark Chapter of the Alabama Federation of Women's Clubs. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Luther Fred Weed of Ariton, Alabama. She is survived by her children; Luther Dexter Weed (Cindy Lindsay) of Daytona Beach, Florida, Dana F. Weed (Rachel) of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, Denise Jean Weed Reyes of Ozark and granddaughter Megan Reyes Hobson (Shan) of Jacksonville, Florida; and cousin, Betty Ford of, Cor d'Alene, Idaho. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She is also preceded in death by all of her siblings, Isaphene Richardson Senn and Grady Eudon Richardson both of Abbeville, Lausie Mae Williams Monk (Will Lee) of Headland, Virgil Williams (Grace) of Dothan, Mabel Williams Maddox of Dothan, Inez Williams Heckman (Al) of Arvada, Colorado, Raymond C. Williams of Atlanta, Georgia, James Robert Williams (Eunice) of Dothan, and M.C. Williams (Noby) of Kinsey. Service Information
