Obituary of Wilbur Gray Childs

Mr. Wilbur Gray Childs died Friday morning July 27, 2018. He was born in Hartford and was a lifetime resident of South Alabama. Residing at Oakview Manor Health Care Center in Ozark for the last seven years, he enjoyed many activities and hobbies such as: playing dominos with his group of buddies, calling Bingo for the residents, watching his old-time shows, listening to his favorite music, and always tuning in to watch one of his favorite sports, especially baseball. Back in his younger days, he refereed basketball, umpired, pitched and played softball. In addition, his most favorite was his passion for fishing. He was also dedicated to his job of 35 years, working for many contractors at Ft. Rucker as a helicopter scheduler, before retiring with DynCorp in 1998. Proceeded in death by his father, Thomas Emmett Childs; his mother Bettie Thames Childs; and sister Erma Jeannie (Childs) Bollin. He is survived by his two daughters, Renee (Childs) Debord and Monica (Childs) Grissam; his brother, Jerry Childs, two grandchildren, two nephews, and three nieces. There are no public services planned for Mr. Childs at this time.
