Obituary of Charles H. Bryan

Mr. Charles Hough Bryan passed away September 4, 2018 at the age of 87. He was born July 6, 1931 in North Carolina to Charles H. Bryan and Lucille Gies Bryan. Funeral services will be graveside 1:00 P.M. Monday, September 10, 2018, in Claybank Cemetery in Ozark with Deacon Joseph (Pat) Pattberg officiating. Interment will follow with Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. Charles (also known as “Bo”) served in the United States Navy following the Korean War and then graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering . His career was in construction as the owner of Bryan Construction Company and International Sales where he built several buildings and structures throughout the United States and in the Jackson area. Some of his work accomplishments included restoration and erecting the Eagle on the Dome of Mississippi State Capital in 1969, constructing the wall around the Mississippi Governor's Mansion, various schools throughout Mississippi as well as theaters, custom homes, tennis courts, mezzanines, towers, boathouses, bridges and barges. One of his hobbies was photography. He never went anywhere without his camera and took many amazing pictures during his journey in life. After retirement he spent the majority of time helping those that needed help, from buying groceries and family necessitates to driving people to doctors appointments, the store or where ever they needed to go along with giving his time to sit with those that were alone or just needed a friend. He also had many charities and organizations he supported and loved them all. He loved to cook, always searching newspapers, magazines and internet for new and exciting recipes. He brought dishes from all over the world to the table. He was a resident of Jackson prior to moving to Brandon, MS and was a member of St. Richard Catholic Church in Jackson and St. Paul Catholic Church in Flowood, MS. Charles was preceded in death by his father Charles H. Bryan, mother Lucille Geis Faulk, wives Sharon Douglass Bryan and Janis E. Bryan, brother Joseph Bryan and great granddaughter Sloane Mallow. Charles will forever be loved by those he left behind. He is survived by son Charles Bryan III and wife Kelly of Seabrook, Texas; daughter Suanne Jones and husband Larry of Franklin, Tennessee; daughter Charlene Woody and husband Bill of Garland, Texas and 7 grandchildren, Jason Scruggs, Erica Mallow and husband Dave, Lindsey Scruggs, Bryan Scruggs, Kamri Engleking and husband Sam, Robin Scruggs and Sydny Bryan. We will all miss the joy and love he brought into our lives. He was the pillar of strength for his family, loved unconditionally and never judged. WAR EAGLE Daddy! WE LOVE YOU!
