Obituary of Joan Neher

Ms. Joan Neher, a resident of Ozark, died Sunday, December 9, 2018. She was seventy-one years old. A memorial service for Joan will be held 3:30 P.M. Tuesday, December 18, 2018, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark. Interment will be in Altus City Cemetery in Altus, Oklahoma, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Ms. Neher was born June 16, 1947 in Altus, Oklahoma to the late John Troy Neher and Geneva Ann “Bo” Thomason Neher. She was a 1965 graduate of Carroll High School in Ozark, Troy University with her Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education and had finished her course work on her Master’s Degree in Counselling at Troy University Dothan. Joan was a founding member of the Ozark Dale County Humane Society and the New Leash On Life Store. She worked with the Southern Star as a graphic artist, and the Department of Human Resources in Ozark in Child Protective Service. She was a member of the Ann Rudd Art Center doing photography and pottery. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Michael Neher. She is survived by her sister, Judy Neher, Orange Beach, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ozark-Dale County Humane Society, P.O. Box 2502, Ozark, Alabama 36361.
