Obituary of Anna Laura Knight Bowdoin

Mrs. Anna Laura Knight Bowdoin, age 90, of Blue Springs, died March 7, 2011, in Henry County Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 A. M. Wednesday, March 9, 2011, from Spring Hill Baptist Church with Reverend Bill Hassell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive at the church Wednesday from 9:00 A. M. until service time. Mrs. Bowdoin was born December 19, 1920 in Coffee County, the only child of the late Grover Cleveland Hudson and Mamie Lucille Wingard Hudson. She had lived in Blue Springs since 1940. She studied education at Troy Normal School and later married Bill Knight. They raised two children, Anita and Buddy on a farm in Blue Springs. She worked for fourteen years with West Point Pepperell until her retirement as a supervisor. She was a devoted member of Spring Hill Baptist Church, where she taught all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to love the Lord. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Bill Knight and Malcolm C. Bowdoin; her son, Buddy Knight; her son-in-law, James Helms; and her granddaughter, Kara Knight Evans. Survivors include one daughter, Anita Louise Helms of Blue Springs; five grandchildren, William Samuel Helms, Barry James Helms, James Daniel Knight, Aaron Allen Knight, Laralee Knight Pennington. Twelve great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild also survive. Service Information
