Obituary of Reverend Isom D. Hill

Reverend Isom D. Hill, age 73, of Ozark, died late Wednesday evening, July 21, 2010, in Flowers Hospital.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A. M. Saturday, July 24, 2010, from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Reverend William Hart and Reverend Kenneth Hale officiating. His body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time on Saturday. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M.
Reverend Hill was born October 13, 1936 in Jones County, Mississippi to the late Thomas Daniel Hill and Bertie Elizabeth Kennedy Hill. He served for over twenty-four years active duty in the United States Navy including combat tours in Vietnam, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer.. He served as a minister with Awendaw Baptist Church in South Carolina, Jakin Baptist Church in Georgia, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Ozark, Lynn Ray Road Baptist Church in Mississippi, and Hillcrest Baptist Church in Ozark. He was an avid golfer and a member of The Silver Wings Golf Club. Reverend Hill enjoyed his golf buddies, J. C. Lewis, Jim Boyd, and Pete Berry. The highlight of his golfing experience was when he played golf with Tiger Woods in Orlando, Florida at Ginn Golf Resort. He loved the Lord, his family, his congregations, and his country. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Bobbie G. Hill; three sisters, Janice Clark, Mamie Stanley, and Delores Walters; five brothers, O. D. Hill, James C. Hill, Charles E. Hill, Aaron Fortenberry, and Alkison G. Hill.
Survivors include his wife, Lenise Hill of Petal, Mississippi;
one daughter and son-in-law; Danna and Johnny Lisenby of Donalsonville, Georgia;
two sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Pam Hill of Ozark, and Charles and Tammy Hill of Ariton,
one sister, Mary Sue Cochran of Laurel, Mississippi;
six grandchildren; Rachael Lisenby, Nathan Lisenby, Kenny Hill, Charlie Hill, Thomas Hill, and Kaitlyn Hill;
