Obituary of Laura Evelyn Wilks Frost

Mrs. Laura Evelyn Wilks Frost, age 88, of Ozark, died early Friday morning, June 4, 2010, surrounded by her family at the home of her daughter and son-in-law.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Sunday, June 6, 2010, in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Reverend William Hart and her son, Reverend Dr. Elton Frost officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 P. M. until 6:00 P. M. Saturday.
Mrs. Frost was born August 11, 1921 in Albany, Alabama (Morgan County), to the late William Pugh Wilks and Mamie Tupper Powell Wilks. She lived in various places while her late husband, Herman Elton Frost, served in the United States Navy and Army. They made their home in Ozark since 1982 where she was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and taught Sunday School until January of this year. Mrs. Frost was a member of the Friends of the Library, Ozark Dale County Retired Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma, and the Matrons Study Club. She attended and taught water aerobics at Fort Rucker until age 86. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Frost was preceded in death by one sister, Sarah Johnson; and three brothers, William Wilks, Harvey Wilks, and James Wilks.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Laura Frost Crouch of Ozark, Mary and Neldon Tomlin of Ozark, Christel and John Harden of Clemson, South Carolina;
one son and daughter-in-law, Reverend Dr. Elton "Toby" and Susan Frost of West Monroe, Louisiana;
two sisters, Margaret Meigs of Monroeville and Frances Hammock of Mobile.
Ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren also survive.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Community Hospice workers, Pam Hill, Kathy Johnson, Teresa Ray, Laura Williams, and Reverend Keith Butler; and to special caregivers, Heather Hutto and Patricia Terry.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ozark-Dale County Public Library, 416 James Street, Ozark, Alabama 36360; or to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Sewing Ministry, 1124 County Road 11, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
