Obituary of Vallie Danner Phillips Chapman

Mrs. Vallie Danner Phillips Chapman, age 98, a resident of Wesley Manor, formerly of Midland City, Ozark, and Skipperville, died Saturday evening, May 1, 2010.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Wednesday, May 5, 2010, from Salem Baptist Church with Reverend Harold Peters and Reverend Gene Gainous officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Wednesday at the church from 1:00 P. M. until service time.
Mrs. Chapman was born February 8, 1912 in Barbour County to the late Nelson and Hettie Dykes Danner. She was led to Christ at the age of 13 and faithfully served her Lord by working with preschool children at Salem Baptist Church, Hillcrest Baptist Church in Ozark, and Bethlehem Baptist Church in Midland City. She was employed as a nursing assistant in the nursery at Dale Medical Center for a number of years, and served as a volunteer both at Southeast Alabama Medical Center and Flowers Hospital for a combination of 25+ years.
She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Midland City. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Addie Phillips and J. B. Chapman; two sisters, Lalar Kelley and Ellie Mae Wyatt; five brothers, Lovick Danner, James Danner, Olan Danner, Loyce Danner, and Ralph Danner; a stepson, Louie Chapman of Auburn; a stepson-in-law, Bill Newton; and three grandchildren.
Survivors include three stepdaughters and two sons-in-law, Evelyn and Hiram Green of Midland City, Jeanette Newton of Dothan, Gennine and John Whatley of Midland City;
Stepdaughter-in-law, Jean Chapman of Auburn;
two brothers one sister-in-law, Bennie and Alberta Danner of Grand Island, Nebraska, and Horace Danner of Woodbridge, Virginia;
sisters-in-law, Ada Danner of Enterprise, Estelle Hagler of Ozark, Betty Danner of Bessemer, and Alcie Danner of Prattville;
and her extended family, the Rex Davis family.
Nine grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, twenty great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
