Obituary of Joyce Doster Murphy

Mrs. Joyce Doster Murphy, age 71, of Ariton, died Sunday morning, April 18, 2010, in a Dothan hospital following a brief illness. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Tuesday, April 20, 2010, from Bethel Assembly of God Church with Reverend Jeff Downing, Reverend Kenneth Earles, and Reverend Randy Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. Monday evening. Mrs. Murphy was born April 9, 1939 in Barbour County to the late Oscar Wallace Doster and Zonie Nance Doster. She had lived in Dale County all of her life and enjoyed fishing and quilting. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Mable Fichard; four brothers, Talmer Doster, Travis Doster, Thomas Doster, and Dalton Doster. Survivors include her husband, James Monroe Murphy of Ariton; four daughters and sons-in-laws, Stephanie and Carroll Hussey of Troy, Rovine Patterson and Steve Hayes of Ariton, Sherry and Michael Stephenson of Dothan, Susan and Marlin Hamm of Troy; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Rickey and Wanda Murphy of Ariton, Mickey Murphy of the Rocky Head Community, Christopher Murphy of Ariton; three sisters, Elenore and Merle Carroll of Clio, Daphneanne Weeks of New Brockton, Betty and Buddy Warren of Ariton; four brothers, James H. and Etha B. Doster of Teal Cross Roads, Obie and Rosie Doster, Bobby and Phylis Doster, Wayne and Chrissy Doster all of Lakeland, Florida. Twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren also survive.
