Obituary of Jackie Thomas

Mr. Jackie Thomas, age 57, of the Asbury Community of Ozark, died late Sunday evening, August 30, 2009, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Wednesday, September 2, 2009, from Asbury United Methodist Church with Reverend Bill Cannon and Pastor David Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Mr. Thomas's body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time on Wednesday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Tuesday evening.
Mr. Thomas was born September 16, 1951 in Newton, Alabama to the late Cecil Emmett Thomas and Verna Mae Head Thomas. For many years he worked as a stone and brick mason. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, laying brick and stone, watching old western movies, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Debra Kay Stewart Thomas of Ozark;
two daughters and sons-in-law, Melanie and Eric Smith of Ozark, Anitra and Bill Cannon of Auburn;
one son and daughter-in-law, Jackson and Chalice Thomas of Ozark;
one brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Beverly Thomas of Ozark;
nine grandchildren, Madeleine Cannon, Daniel Cannon, Hannah-Beth Cannon, Ian Cannon, Jaycee Thomas, Joely Thomas, Kati Leigh Smith, Benjamin Smith, and Kali Smith.
