Obituary of Rachel Brown Deloney

Mrs. Rachel Brown Deloney of Ozark, died Monday, December 22, 2008, in Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She was 95 years old. Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Friday, December 26, 2008, from Bethel United Methodist Church with Reverend Dr. Billy D. Gaither officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Friday in the church from 10:00 A. M. until service time. Mrs. Deloney was born April 11, 1913 to the late Sarah Ella Baldwin Brown and Harvey Brown. She was a lifelong resident of the Browns Cross Roads Community, a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, and the Bethel U. M. W. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Thermon D. Deloney; sisters, Maude Newton, Jean Alice Brown, Irene Pylant, Annie Pylant, and Ruth Rogers; brothers, Lem, Lev, Joe, and Ben Brown; and a great granddaughter, Jordan Michelle Long. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Barbara Deloney of Dothan, Harvey L. and Ginger Deloney of Ozark; four grandchildren, Rhonda (David) Seay of Montgomery, Dana (John) Gunter of Dothan, Michelle (Raymond) Walters of Valley, and Brandon (Jamie) Deloney of Ozark. Seven great grandchildren also survive. The family would like to express their thanks to her special caregivers Kathy Major, Sherry Stein, Betty Coleman, and Cathy Baker. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Janet Brooks, 7300 East County Road 36, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
