Obituary of Delphine Johnson Spivey

Mrs. Delphine Johnson Spivey, widow of Millard C. Spivey, passed into the arms of our Lord from her earthly home in Skipperville on June 11, 2008. She was 78. Funeral services will be 10:00 A. M. Friday, June 13, 2008, at Skipperville United Methodist Church with Reverend Freddie L. McCain and Reverend Curt McCollough officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Thursday evening. Mrs. Spivey was born in Pike County to the late T. A. and Naomi G. Johnson. In addition to her parents and her husband of 54 1/2 years, Mrs. Spivey was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Rebecca Spivey; her brothers, Stanley, Oscar, and John; and her sisters, Elizabeth, Julia, Winnie, and Lillian. Surviving to cherish her love and memory are her children, Gail Spivey, Cathy (Steve) Bass, and Darrell (Peggy) Spivey; her grandchildren, Dawn (Chris) Blalock, Adam (Crystal) Segars, Karen (Tim) Pridgen, and Matthew Spivey; her sister, Betty (Ed) Johnson; her great grandchildren, Hunter and Hanna Segars, Emily and Eli Murphy; sister-in-law, Rhetta Johnson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rudolph and Talma Spivey. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her special pet-children, Yancey, Sam, Gus, and Sassie. Serving as pallbearers are, Buck Turner, Tommy "Domino" Thompson, Jessie "Tater" Snell, Michael Gassett, Dwight Sanders, and David Sanders. The family would like to express a special thanks to: Pete and Martha Gassett, Arlene and Danny Hill, Gloria Parrish, Community Care Hospice, Wiregrass Medical Center in Geneva, Dr. Connie Chandler and employees, Dr. John Simmons and employees, Bonnie Murgdorf, and to the staff of Crosby Drugs.
