Obituary of Harold Dick

Mr. James Harold Dick, age 87, a life-long resident of Ozark, Alabama and recently a resident of Satellite Beach, Florida with his daughter and son-in-law, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 10, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 13, 2008 at Ozark Baptist Church with Reverend Greg Aman officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 P. M. until 6:00 P. M. Saturday afternoon. Mr. Dick was born on October 8, 1920 in Dale County, Alabama the son of Thomas Obediah Dick and Mattie Francis Snellgrove Dick. He attended Ozark schools, served in the United States Army during World War II, and graduated from Gupton Jones College of Mortuary Science. Mr. Dick served the residents of Dale County as Coroner for 25 years, and practiced as a mortician at Holman Funeral Home Ozark, Alabama for over 60 years. Mr. Dick was a life-long member of the Ozark Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge #349. He was very warmly regarded in his professional capacity and was a beloved father and husband. His wife of more than 51 years, Voncile Ammons Dick, one sister, Mary Francis Snell Phillips, and a half-brother, Colbert Dunnavant preceded him in death. Survivors include his daughter, Dr. Janet Elizabeth Dick-Grace and her husband LTC (Retired) Paul F. Grace of Satellite Beach, Florida. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
