COL (Retired) Richard L. "Diz" Dismuke, age 84, of Ozark died Saturday morning, March 3, 2007, in a Dothan hospital following a brief illness. Funeral services will be 1:00 P. M. Tuesday, March 6, 2007 in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with United States Army Chaplain (Major) Randall Kirby officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens with full Military Honors, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Monday evening. COL (Retired) Dismuke was born December 28, 1922 in Columbus, Georgia to the late Victoria Lowrey Dismuke and James Clyde Dismuke. He served in the United States Army as an Aviator, retiring in 1972. In his retirement, Diz enjoyed hunting, golf, poker, and dominos with his friends. He will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by his children and grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. James C. Dismuke and Dr. William Dismuke. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Fran and Rannie Howell of Franklin, Tennessee, one son, Richard Timothy "Tim" Dismuke of Panama City Beach, Florida, three sisters, Virginia Bishop of Adel, Georgia, Betty Jane Beall of Augusta, Georgia, and Catherine Dismuke of Valdosta, Georgia, three grandchildren, Clinton Timothy Dismuke, Kevin Delon Howell, and Laura Howell Stafford, five great grandchildren, Lane Elizabeth Stafford, Emily Louise Howell, Harry Andrew Stafford, V, Samuel Randolph Howell, and Olivia Helen Howell.
