Mrs. Mabel Scott Watson, age 86, of Eufaula, formerly of Blue Springs, died Monday morning, November 13, 2006, in Dale Medical Center following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Wednesday, November 15, 2006, from Peniel Baptist Church with Reverend Spurgeon Baker officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. Tuesday evening. Mrs. Watson was born April 20, 1920 in Dale County to the late Leona Henderson Tharpe and Harvey Tharpe. She was a member of Peniel Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, James Sephus (Joe) Scott and Ison Watson, her daughter, Shirley Jo Scott, and two brothers, Harvey Tharpe, Jr. and Hugo Tharpe. Survivors include two daughters, Sue Long and her husband, Grover of Eufaula and Barbara Parr and her husband, Jimmy of Valparaiso, Florida, two sons, Jimmy Scott and his wife, Pauline of Ozark and Mitchell Scott and his wife, Deborah of Clio, one sister, Hazel Hill of Tallahassee, Florida, two brothers, Durwood Tharpe of Dothan, and Dudley Tharpe of Sun City, California, two sisters-in-law, Jewell Tharpe and Mary Tharpe of Dothan, nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in her memory to Peniel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2710 County Road 41, Skipperville, Alabama 36374.
