Chief Master Sergeant (Retired) Edward A. Sconyers, Jr., age 77, of Ozark, died Tuesday night, July 4, 2006 in Dale Medical Center. A private memorial service will be held at 11:00 A. M. today, Friday, July 7, 2006 in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with United States Air Force Chaplain Daniel Call officiating, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Full Military honors will be rendered by the United States Air Force Honor Guard following the service. Mr. Sconyers was born November 16, 1928 in Macon, Georgia to the late Eleanor Stanley Sconyers and Edward A. "Jack" Sconyers, Sr. He attended Lanier High School in Macon and Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina. He entered the Army Air Corp in 1946, served in World War II, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War. He retired following thirty years of service. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and a lifetime member of Lodge of St. George 200, Grand Lodge of Scotland. He was a devoted father who loved his children very much. Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Betty Sconyers of Ozark, four daughters, Rhonda Utecht and her husband, Jerry of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Shirley Forbes of Jacksonville, Florida, Sharon Van Orsow and her husband, David of Henderson, Nevada, and Susan Arnold and her husband, Phillip of Atlanta, Georgia, one son, David Sconyers of Chandler, Arizona, one sister, Nita Garrett of Macon, Georgia, eight grandchildren, Jenna and Kristin Utecht, Neal, Jeffery, and Bradley Van Orsow, Kelly Forbes, Allison Oliver and Angela Johnson,, one great grandchild, Alexander Johnson.
