Obituary of J.W. Adkins

Mr. J. W. Adkins, age 88, of Skipperville, died Wednesday morning, June 21, 2006 in Ozark Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Friday, June 23, 2006 at Brown's United Methodist Church with Reverend Marquis Wingard officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the Church from 9:30 A. M. Friday until service time. Mr. Adkins was born September 17, 1917 in the Asbury Community of Dale County to the late Mary Flossie Hughes Adkins and John Adam "J. A." Adkins. He worked as a salesman with M. O. Carroll - Newton Company for many years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Adkins was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mary Ella Galloway Adkins, his daughter, Patricia Adkins Spivey, two sisters, Ruby Jones and Mary Jane Snell, and two brothers, Willie Adkins and Carroll Adkins. Survivors include his sister, Glennie Griggs of Ozark, two grandchildren, Suzanne Spivey and her fiance, Stephen Moss of Donalsonville, Georgia, and Michael Spivey and his wife, Wendy of Murfeesboro, Tennessee, two great grandchildren, Alex Kelly of Donalsonville, Georgia, and Kelsey Spivey of Murfeesboro, Tennessee. Also surviving is his special dog, Angel. The family requests the omission of food and flowers.
