Obituary of Evelyn Deal McCord Williams

Mrs. Evelyn Deal McCord Williams, age 81, of Pensacola, Florida, died Monday morning, May 15, 2006. Funeral services will be graveside at 1:00 P. M. Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at Echo United Methodist Church Cemetery. Interment will follow, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Mrs. Williams was born March 16, 1925 in Echo, Alabama to the late Nita Verlon Woodham Deal and Pillie Powell Deal. She moved to Pensacola in 1958 where she was a wife, homemaker and mother until 1965 when she began her career with Sacred Heart Hospital. She loved working at Sacred Heart and had a special relationship with Sister Blanche who was one of the three nuns who had the vision of what Sacred Heart Hospital has now become. Her dedication and work ethic included never being late in her 35 years of service. She retired from full-time work in 1991 and continued working part-time until she was 75 years old. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, A. E. "Art" Williams. Her beloved dog and companion of 13 years, Choo Choo also passed away on May 15, 2006. Survivors include two sons, Ronald P. McCord and Wauthu McCord and his wife, Bobbie of Pensacola, one daughter, Dianne McLeod and her husband, Mike of Atlanta, Georgia, grandchildren, Kelley M. Lanier of Eclectic, Alabama, Jayson W. McCord of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jocelyn M. Lee of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jeremy A. Green of Atlanta, Georgia, Jennifer M. Hourani of Canton, Michigan, Heather M. McLeod of Bremerton, Washington. Six great grandchildren also survive. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Echo United Methodist Church, Cemetery Fund, 7942 East County Road 36, Ozark, Alabama 36360. The family wishes to thank Joan Gentry, Heather Robison, Laurie Fritz and Joel Underwood of Covenant Hospice for their loving care of our mother. Service Information
