Mr. J D "Jake" German, age 74, of Ozark, died early Tuesday morning, March 21, 2006, in Lakeview Community Hospital, Eufaula, Alabama, following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be graveside at 10:30 A. M. Thursday, March 23, 2006 from Ewell Cemetery with Reverend Harry Circle officiating. Interment will follow, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 P. M. until 6:00 P. M. Wednesday afternoon. Mr. German was born March 22, 1931 to the late Ruby Hallford German and Walter German. He was a native and life-long resident of the Brown's Cross Roads Community. Mr. German was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He worked in farming, construction, and with Brown's Manufacturing Company until his retirement. J D was as avid vegetable gardener and enjoyed his friends and family. Survivors include his daughter; Glenda Faye Brown of Pageland, South Carolina, his son, Larry C. German and his wife; Scarlett of Pageland, South Carolina, two sisters; Irene Hallford of Midland City, and Pauline Norrell of Ozark, six grandchildren; Rodney Smothers, Crystal Brown, Amanda Brown, Kimberly Brown, Sharon German McManus, and Misty Lynn German.
