Major (Retired) Bobby R. Wilkins, Sr., age 72, of Ozark, died Wednesday afternoon in Dale Medical Center following a brief illness. Funeral services will be 4:00 P. M. Saturday, October 15, 2005, at Bridlewood Chapel with Reverend Hugh Owen officiating. Entombment will be 12:30 P. M, Friday, October 21, 2005, in Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida with full Military Honors, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends in the Church from 2:00 P. M. until service time at 4:00 P. M. on Saturday. Major (Retired) Wilkins was born March 27, 1933 in Pinetops, North Carolina. He served for 20 years in the United States Army including the Korean Conflict, and two tours as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. He also served for 20 years in Civil Service with the United States Army Safety Center including Desert Storm as a Safety Investigator. Following his retirement, Major Wilkins served as a Red Cross volunteer at Fort Rucker. He was a Charter Member of Bridlewood Chapel in Ozark, where he served as Vice-Chairman of the Official Board, and as a Trustee of the Church. Survivors include his wife, Marie Wilkins, Ozark, one daughter, Del Lewis and her husband, Jeremy, Milton, Florida, two sons, William Wilkins and his wife, Becki, Ozark, and Bobby Wilkins, Jr. and his wife, Tammy, Anniston, Alabama, one sister, Mickie Savage and her husband, Jim, Lady Lake, Florida, grandchildren, Justin Lewis, Tamara and David Hall, Mindi Wilkins, Bobbie and Jessie Rutledge, step-grandchildren, Todd and Sherri Wallen, Jennifer and Michael McKinnon, great grandson, Elijah Wallen. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association, 1152 West Main Street, Dothan, Alabama 36301, or to Bridlewood Chapel, P. O. Box 501, Ozark, Alabama 36361.
