Mrs. Margie Heath Jerkins West, age 73, of the Mabson Community of Ozark, died Wednesday morning, October 12, 2005, at her home following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Friday, October 14, 2005, at Post Oak Baptist Church with Reverend W. L. Sheffield and Reverend John Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. Thursday evening. The body will be placed in the Church one hour prior to service time on Friday. Mrs. West was born October 25, 1931 in the Mabson Community of Dale County to the late Elinor Ard Heath and Houston Heath. She was married to Robert Jerkins for 40 years until his death in 1988. In 1990 she married Jake West and still resided in her childhood home. Mrs. West worked at Whaley's Department Store, Cinderella's Ladies Shop, Judy Bond Outlet Store, and with Badcock Home Furnishings in Ozark for 13 years until becoming ill. She was a member of Post Oak Baptist Church since the middle 1950's, and sang with the Dale Tones and Cedar Creek singing groups. She was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Lanier Heath. Survivors include her husband, J. G. (Jake) West, Ozark, one daughter, Eleanor Outlaw and her husband, James, Ozark, one step-daughter, Jo Ann Mosley and her husband, Charles, Ft. Meade, Florida, one son, Jimmy Jerkins and his wife, Sylvia, Chancellor, Alabama, two step-sons, Joseph West and Randall West, Montgomery, three sisters, Betty Morehead and her husband, Cawthon, Nancy Peters and her husband, Morris, and Judy Chancey and her husband, Jeff, all of Ozark, two brothers, Jimmy Heath and his wife, Gerotha, Ozark, and Jerry Carroll and his wife, Judy, Tallahassee, Florida, 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
