Obituary of Helen Jean Hurst Patton

Mrs. Helen Jean Hurst Patton, age 81, died Saturday morning, July 9, 2005. Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Thursday, July 14, 2005, at Ozark First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Greg Doss officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. Wednesday evening. Mrs. Patton was born March 7, 1924 in Flippin, Arkansas, to the late Faye and Robert Hurst. She moved to Oklahoma during the depression years and then to California, Texas, and to Winter Haven, Florida where she raised her three sons. Upon retirement she and her husband moved to Ozark, where they lived and were active in the First Assembly of God Church and the Prison Ministry. Helen was an accomplished quiltmaker who greatly enjoyed sharing her gifts with her loved ones. The family would like to thank Wiregrass Hospice for their love and compassion. To the kind ladies of Ozark Assembly of God Church for transporting and caring for her during her illness. A special thanks to Debbie Cotton for always being there for her as well as Bette Byrd and Rhonda Bruhn. Helen will be greatly missed by her family, Church, and friends. She lived her 81 years to the fullest and was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, D. H. Patton, three sisters, Joyce Parker, Neva Knight, and Lorene Guadagna. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Kim and Marie Patton, Lake Wales, Florida, Tom and Debbie Patton, Jacksonville, Florida, and Sam and Debbie Patton, Ozark, grandchildren, Robert Patton and his wife, Jamie, Jacksonville, Florida, Lindsey Patton, Lake Wales, Florida, Johnathan Patton, Lake Wales, Florida, and Victoria Patton, Ozark, one great grandson, Dawson Lee Patton, Jacksonville, Florida, three sisters, Margaret Kent, French, California, Patricia Thompson, Hargo, Oklahoma, and Eldean Wing and her husband, Lester, Shawnee, Oklahoma, two brothers, James Hurst and his wife, LaQuinta, Tecumseh, Oklahoma, and Jack Hurst and his wife, Doris, Shawnee, Oklahoma. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in her memory to Ozark First Assembly Kids Club, 170 Country Club Drive, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
