Obituary of CW3 Lloyd W. Hulsey

CW3 (Retired) Lloyd W. Hulsey, 78, of Daleville, died Sunday morning, March 27, 2005, in Dothan. Funeral services will be 10:00 A. M. Wednesday, March 30, 2005 in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with United States Army Chaplain officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens with full Military Honors and Masonic Rites, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Hulsey was born June 6, 1926 to the late Lillie Hill Hulsey and Columbus Francis Hulsey in Elllington, Missouri. Mr. Hulsey entered the United States Navy in May of 1944 and served as a Chief Boatswain Mate on an LST during World War II. Upon completion of military service with the United States Navy in 1947, he joined the United States Army where he served honorably until 1967. As a soldier, Mr. Hulsey held various enlisted positions as an aviation mechanic. In 1956, he graduated from the United States Army Helicopter Flight Training Program at then Camp Rucker. He flew a variety of rotary wing aircraft and accrued over 10,000 hours of flying time. During his Army Aviation career, he attained instructor pilot status and was a standardization pilot. Most notable were his achievements in the development of rotary wing mission formation flying, development of the helicopter gunship, flying the Germany border during the cold war, and his tour in Vietnam. Mr. Hulsey was a lifetime member of the Barnesville, Missouri Masonic Lodge No. 153 for over 50 years. Survivors include his wife, Ingeborg Hulsey, Daleville, two sons, Colonel (Retired) Barney Hulsey, Navarre, Florida, and Lieutenant Colonel Lloyd Hulsey, Biloxi, Mississippi, four grandchildren, Rebecca Hulsey, Robert Hulsey, Matthew Hulsey, and David Hulsey.
