Obituary of Eldessa Grantham Arnold

Mrs. Eldessa Grantham Arnold, 94, died at 4:30 P. M., Thursday, January 20, 2005, at Wesley Manor Retirement Center, Dothan., Alabama. Graveside services will be at 11:00 A. M. Saturday, January 22, 2005, at Lee Family Cemetery, six miles south of Ozark on County Road 30, with Reverend David Willis, Pastor of Newton Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow, Holman Funeral Home in Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the cemetery from 10:00 A. M. Saturday morning until service time. After growing up in Bertha, graduating from Ozark High School, and marrying Aubrey Arnold, they made their home in Montgomery for many years, raising their children there. At Frazer Memorial Methodist Church she was a long time Sunday school teacher of children, alto in the church choir, and a leader and life member of the Women's Society of Christian Service. Retiring in 1968, she and Aubrey moved back to his parents old home place on Klondike Hill near Newton, Alabama where, in the four years before Aubrey's death, they made a new home, transplanted her flowers and gardens from Montgomery, and became active members of Newton Methodist Church. In 1989 she moved to Wesley Manor Retirement Center and was an active resident in the assisted living area for 15 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Perry O. Grantham and Sara Frances Snell Grantham of Bertha, Alabama, her husband, Frank Aubrey Arnold, Sr., her two sons, Frank Aubrey Arnold, Jr. and Curtis Gene Arnold, her grandson, Frank Grantham Arnold, two sisters, Wilfred and Helen of Bertha, and one brother, Perry of Ozark. She is survived by a son, Terry G. Arnold and his wife, Sarah, of Montevallo, Alabama, eight grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren, her sisters, Alice of Eufaula, Alabama, and Beryl of Fort Walton Beach, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to Wesley Manor Methodist Home, 718 Honeysuckle Road, Dothan, Alabama 36305. Service Information
