Miss Jewel Johnston, 82, of Skipperville, died Monday, December 27, 2004, in Dale Medical Center. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at Morgan Baptist Church with Reverend Bill Weed and Reverend Forrest Weekley, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Bersheba Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at Holman Funeral Home in Ozark from 6:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. Tuesday evening. The body will be placed in the Church one hour prior to service time on Wednesday. Miss Johnston was born July 8, 1922 to the late Chloe Griggs Johnston and C. Lee Johnston. She was a devoted daughter who took care of her Mother and Father, and a very special aunt to her nieces and nephews. She was an extraordinary cook and was known as the best teacake maker in the country. She retired in 1987 from the Ice House Restaurant where she delighted many customers with her wonderful cooking. Her parents, one sister, and two brothers preceded her in death. Survivors include two sisters, Agnis Eldessie Ard, Lake Wales, Florida, and Myrtle J. Carpenter, Ozark, several nieces and nephews, and a special first cousin and caregiver, Mae Ola Bell and her husband, Braxton, Jr., Skipperville. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Staff of Oakview Manor Nursing Facility, Dale Medical Center Nurses and Staff, and to Dr. Cromer-Tyler and Dr. Caffey for their special attention to Miss Jewel. The family request that food be omitted.
