MSgt. (Retired) August J. "Dutch" Sterzenback, 84, of Ozark, died Wednesday, November 17, 2004. Funeral services will be 10:00 A. M. Saturday, November 20, 2004 at St. Johns Catholic Church with Reverend Charles McCabe officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens with full military honors, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at Holman Funeral Home in Ozark from 6:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. Friday evening. MSgt. Sterzenback was born July 31, 1920, in Natchez, Mississippi to the late August J. Sr. and Frances Smith Sterzenback. He was a decorated Veteran of the United States Army, serving for 26 years during World War II, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War. He had worked for 15 years at Fort Rucker where he was an instructor. MSgt. Sterzenback was a charter member of St. Johns Catholic Church and the Ozark Optimist Club where he served as past President and as the Lt. Governor of the Southeast Council of Optimist. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Charles F. Sterzenback and his sister, Frances Sterzenback. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Pauline W. Sterzenback, Ozark, two sons, Mark and his wife, Darlene, Houston, Texas, and Don and his wife, Debi, Panama City Beach, Florida, two daughters, Dianne Davis and her husband, Jack, Dothan, Alabama, and Sue Tzareff and her husband, Paul, Oviedo, Florida, five grandchildren, Chasen Sterzenback, Lisa and Michael Tzareff, Amanda and Jason Davis.
