Obituary of Loraine Strickland Casey
Please share a memory of Loraine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mrs. Loraine Strickland Casey, 88, of Ozark, died Friday, October 15, 2004. Funeral services will be at 2:30 P. M. Sunday, October 17, 2004, at Chalkhead Baptist Church. Reverend Tommy West, Reverend and Mrs. Thaxton Whiddon, and Reverend and Mrs. Ron Jackson will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, directed by Holman Funeral Home of Ozark. The family will receive friends at Chalkhead Baptist Church from 1:30 P. M. Sunday until the service begins. At other times, the family will be at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Joseph (Lucille) Godwin, 1084 Faust Avenue, Ozark. Throughout her life, Mrs. Casey was faithful to her friends, to her family, and to her God. She was a person of great faith, and during her final illness, found death nothing to dread, but, as often called it, her "promotion" to eternal life. She was blessed with the gift to be simple, unpretentious, and "real". She had an incredible memory, and her family and friends from near and far would visit and talk with her about their family connections. Mrs. Casey was born in Dale County to the late Emma Powers Strickland and Henry Caswell Strickland and was a lifelong resident of the Ewell Community. She was married for 19 years to the late S. M. Casey and was preceded in death by two sisters, Annie Bell Covington and Ruby Koon, and three brothers, Sidney, Henry D., and Comer Strickland. Her survivors include one sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Joseph Godwin, two sisters-in-law, Robbie and Erwin Strickland, one step-granddaughter, Carolyn Alberson, and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Casey would have appreciated memorial contributions to a charity such as Wiregrass Hospice, 1970 East Andrews Avenue, Ozark, or to another charitable or religious organization meaningful to the contributor.
