Mrs. Dorothy Ellen Nichols Tew Mims, 90, of Ozark, went to be with the Lord at 10:30 P.M., on Thursday evening, June 16, 2016, at her home.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Monday, June 20, 2016, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with Chaplain Bryan Simoneaux and Reverend Earl Bridges officiating. Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory near Headland, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Monday morning from 9:30 A. M. until service time at 11:00 A.M.
Mrs. Mims was born August 26, 1925 in Dale County to the late Jack and Maggie Oppert Nichols. Dorothy lived life as a faithful wife, as a devoted mother, and as a talented homemaker. She made quilts, stitched aprons, sewed draperies, and cooked pastries. Dorothy was the widow of Joe Tollie Mims, a longtime local barber. She is survived by two daughters. They are Jo-Ellen Willis and husband, James, and Jennia Beecher. She is also survived by six step-grandchildren, Deborah Tharpe, James Willis, III, Michael Willis, Jeffrey Wills, Erika McGilton, and Bradon Beecher. Dorothy was a member of Kolb Chapter No. 468 of the Order of The Eastern Star, and she was of the Baptist denomination.
Dorothy requested that donations be made to First Choice Hospice, located at 1864 Andrews Avenue, Ozark, Alabama, in lieu of flowers.
