Mrs. Mary Pat Helms Kelly, 76, of Ozark, died Thursday, June 4, 2015, in Dale Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Saturday, June 6, 2015, from New Hope Congregational Christian Church in Clio with Reverend Dr. Steve King officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Saturday in the church from 9:30 A. M. until service time.
Mrs. Kelly was born October 8, 1938 in New Brockton, Alabama to the late John and Lois Speigner Helms. Foremost in Mrs. Kelly’s life was loving and taking care of her husband, children and grandchildren. Her guidance and legacy can be seen in the three children she raised with her husband, Lavon. She was a member of Ozark Baptist Church and an educator, having taught at D. A. Smith Middle School, Houston Academy, Dale County High School, and Barbour County High School.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Levon Kelly of Ozark; one daughter and son-in-law, Mitzy and Greg Park of Atlanta; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Kristy Kelly of Tallahassee, John and Julie Kelly of Ozark; seven grandchildren, Caroline Kristine Kelly, Kathleen Claire Kelly, Charlie Grace Kelly, Taylor Elise Park, Gregory Arthur Park, Jr., Mary Elizabeth Kelly, and James Cullis Kelly; three sisters, Peggy Weidenbach of Eufaula, Barbara Gates of Ozark, Nancy Tisdale of Birmingham. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to New Hope Congregational Christian Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Mrs. Katrina Adams, 83 County Road 23, Clio, Alabama 36017.
