Obituary of Vincent James DiFilippo

Mr. Vincent James “Jim” DiFilippo, 80, of Ozark, died Sunday, April 12, 2015, at his home. A memorial service for Mr. DiFilippo will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 15, 2015, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with Deacon Pat Pattberg officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be in Westview Memorial Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. Mr. Difilippo was born March 23, 1935 in Providence, Rhode Island to the late Vincent and Mary Defonzo DiFilippo. He served in the United States Army in the 11th Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky as an airborne paratrooper instructor. He was discharged as a Master Sergeant with fourteen years of service. Following his military service, Mr. DiFilippo entered the restaurant business managing Pizza on Call locations at Fort Benning, Fort Rucker, and Keesler Air Force Base. In 1968 he opened DiFilippo’s Pizza Pub in Ozark. He considered DiFilippo’s his “home” and retired after forty-five years. Mr. DiFilippo enjoyed creating stained glass and raising game fowl. He was of the Catholic faith. Survivors include his wife, Margaret “Marge” Stewart DiFilippo of Ozark; two daughters, Gale Lavender and Sherry DiFilippo of Ozark; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Jan Nash of Dothan, Ricky and Becky DiFilippo of Ozark; three grandchildren, Brittany and Travis Godwin, Jason and Megan DiFilippo of Ozark; Krissy and Brian Atkinson of Dothan; three great grandchildren, Stella DiFilippo, Ella Atkinson, and Allie Godwin; one sister, Sylvia Linhares; and one brother, Robert DiFilippo.
