Obituary of James Herbert Thompson

Mr. James Herbert “Herb” Thompson, 61, of Skipperville, died Thursday, October 9, 2014, at his home. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Sunday, October 12, 2014 in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Donald Mills officiating. Interment will follow in Concord Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 4:00 P. M. until 6:00 P. M. Mr. Thompson was born May 29, 1953 in Dale County to the late Hoover Thompson and Jewlene Smith Thompson. He worked with M. O. Carroll in Ozark for several years prior to working with the Dale County Road and Bridge Department for twenty-eight years until his retirement. Mr. Thompson also worked with the Skipperville Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Linda Thompson. Survivors include his wife, Linda Phillips Thompson of Skipperville; one step-son, Kevin Strickland of Skipperville; his special canine companion, Susie; one step-sister, Yvonne Howell of Ozark; one brother, Roger Thompson of Ozark; and one step-brother, Dewayne Gill of Ozark.
