Obituary of Annie Laurie Griggs Beasley

Mrs. Annie Laurie Griggs Beasley of Blairsville, Georgia, formerly of Tampa, Florida, died Friday, February 7, 2014, in Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville. She was 101 years old. Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Saturday, February 15, 2014, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend David Walsh officiating. Interment will follow in Center Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday morning from 9:30 A. M. until service time. Mrs. Beasley was born June 14, 1912 in Pike County, Alabama, to the late Jasper Kennon Griggs and Callie Helen Tatum Griggs. She was a homemaker and a member of Center Ridge Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Tarpley Beasley on January 29, 1948; her sons, Al (Curly) Beasley and Bill Beasley, and brother, Alpha T. Griggs. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Gwen Beasley of Marietta, GA, Jack and Linda Beasley of Young Harris, GA, and Larry and Kathryn Beasley of Lutz, FL; her "sixth son", Dean Edmonds of Ariton, AL (who she cared for following the death of his mother); daughters-in-law, Shirley Beasley of Tampa, FL, and Sarah Beasley of Moultrie, GA; 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 8 great, great grandchildren.
