Obituary of Rachel Virginia Monk Stevenson

Mrs. Rachel Virginia Monk Stevenson, age 82, of Daleville, died Wednesday, January 15, 2014, in Ozark Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be 2:30 P. M. Friday, January 17, 2014, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend William Hart and Reverend Jud Waldrop officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 1:30 P. M. until service time. Mrs. Stevenson was born September 29, 1931 in Dale County to the late Henry and Eva Key Monk. She and her late husband owned and operated Daleville Nursery for many years; and she also worked in the office of Mullins Trailer Park in Daleville. Mrs. Stevenson was a member of Daleville Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and enjoyed gospel music. She was loved by many because she gave love unconditionally. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billie R. Stevenson; five sisters, Mamie Knight, Florence Monk, Ruby Key, Maureen Lanier, and Sarah Lavadous Snell; five brothers, Melvin Monk, Henry Monk, Rayford Monk, Joe Monk, and Leroy Monk. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Julie Keirn of Opelika, AL, Debra and Donald Knippers of Ozark; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Jackie Stevenson of Eufaula, Paul and Jennifer Stevenson of Morganton, NC; seven grandchildren, Shannon (Jamie) DeLamar, Amanda Stevenson, Blake Stevenson, Corey Stevenson, Morgan Stevenson, Matthew Stevenson, and Daniel Stevenson; eight great grandchildren, Raley Morris, Paxton DeLamar, Landon DeLamar, Damien Reed, Dylan Holt, Payton Holt, Riley Remple, and Rachel Stembridge.
