Obituary of Jimmie Lee Griffin Mixon

Mrs. Jimmie Lee Griffin Mixon, age 92, died Sunday, August 25, 2013, in Oakview Manor Health Care Center following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 10:30 A. M. Tuesday in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Roger Stone, Reverend Benjamin Johnson, and Mr. Demp Littlefield officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 9:00 A. M. until service time. Mrs. Mixon was born July 3, 1921 in Coffee County to the late Alexander and Leila Hudson Griffin. She lived in Ozark during her adult life where she managed the Greyhound Bus Station for thirty-one years. Mrs. Mixon was known for her African Violets and enjoyed fishing. Following her retirement, she started painting nature scenes. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church for over sixty years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Van Buren Mixon, Sr.; one sister, Leila Pearl Griffin; and one brother, Alfred Griffin. Survivors include two daughters, Annette Morrison of Tampa, Florida and Janice Long of Miramar Beach, Florida; four sons, Ralph Mixon of Ozark, Martin V. Mixon of Monroe, Louisiana, Bryant Mixon of Ozark, and Grady Mixon of Farmerville, Louisiana; and one sister, Annie Merle Williams of Newton. Six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild also survive. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mitchell Cancer Institute, Development Office, 650 Clinical Drive, Room 2150—TRP 111, Mobile, Alabama 36688. Service Information
