Mr. Herbert D. "Hub" Cordell, age 75, of Semmes, Alabama, formerly of Ozark, died Thursday, June 28, 2012 in Dale Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Monday, July 2, 2012, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Charles Littlefield officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery near Midland City, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 9:00 A. M. until service time. Mr. Cordell was born November 30, 1936 in Dale County to the late Walter Mixon Cordell and Estelle Downs Cordell. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and has worked with Jordan Pile Driving for 56 Years. Mr. Cordell prided himself in the rose gardens he developed, including the ones at the Jordan Industries office in Mobile. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Carol Smith Cordell. Survivors include his special best friend, Connie Kelley of Semmes, Alabama; two sons, Danny and Windy Cordell of Ozark, David Mark and Tammy of the Rocky Head Community; one sister, Martha Williams of Midland City; one brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Nina Cordell of the Ewell Community; three grandchildren, Haiden Brooke Cordell, Meagan Watson, and Tyler Love and a special niece, Kim Byrd.Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2797 County Road 14, Midland City, AL 36350.
