Funeral services will be 10:00 A. M. Saturday, June 30, 2012, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with The Deacon Francis Viselli officiating. She was born in Hiroshima, Japan, the daughter of Moon and Kwi Kim. As a spirited young girl of five children, Sul Sun took on many domestic responsibilities. She was very brave traveling with her family through the war torn countryside making it back to the land she descended from, South Korea. She grew into a woman with fortitude and gumption. Sul Sun did not conform to the times in 1960s; she met an American soldier that three years later became her unvarying husband and best friend. They lived in Seoul, South Korea and started their family with the arrival of their first son and one year later a daughter. The Brackens moved to the United States in 1968 making Ozark, Alabama their home. They welcomed two more sons completing their young family. Sul Sun's family tree continues to grow. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Vernon Bracken; four children, Richard Bracken, Frances Cornelius, Everett Bracken and Jimmie Bracken; six grandchildren that adored her, Claire, Cole, Blake, Dylan, Katherine and Cameron; brother, Jang Kim; sister-in-law, Tong Kum Kim; niece, Linda Kim; nephew, James Kim; brother, Vying Kim.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Memorial Chairperson, P. O. Box 2123, Dothan, AL 36302.
