Obituary of W. Lomax Pritchett

Mr. Walter Lomax Pritchett, age 88, of the Salem Community of Skipperville, died Wednesday evening, February 29, 2012, in Southeast Alabama Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 2: 00 P. M. Sunday, March 4, 2012, from Salem Baptist Church with Reverend Harold Peters and Reverend Timothy Davis officiating. Mr. Pritchett's body will be placed in the church Sunday one hour prior to service time. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 3:00 P. M. until 5:00 P. M.
Mr. Pritchett was born July 19, 1923 in Montgomery, Alabama and grew up in Ozark. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Navy Seabees. Upon returning from World War II, he worked with his mother and father at their family gas and grocery store on North Union Avenue. Later he served in the United States Army National Guard during the Korean War. Mr. Pritchett graduated from Wallace Technical School and worked at Fort Rucker from 1954 until his retirement in 1989 as an aircraft mechanic. He was a member and Deacon of Salem Baptist Church. He enjoyed flying his radio controlled aircraft and camping. He was preceded in death by the Mother of his children, Mildred Dykes Pritchett; his parents, Walter Lee Pritchett and Velma Virginia Davis Pritchett; and one sister, Marion Lewis.
Survivors include his wife, Laverne Sutton Pritchett of Ozark; two sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Sandra Pritchett, Gary and Cindy Pritchett all of Ozark; one brother and sister-in-law, Sammy and Jean Pritchett of Lithia, Florida; six grandchildren, Amanda and James Melby, Perry and Emily Pritchett, Dennis and Kristan Pritchett, JoAnne and Benji Hicks, Adam and Kim Pritchett, Erika and John Bell. Fifteen great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Salem Baptist Church, C/O Mr. Don Johnson, P. O.
