Obituary of James G. Sasser

James G. Sasser of Ozark, Alabama, died Friday, January 27, 2012, at his home. Mr. Sasser was born in Brantley, Alabama, in 1927, and lived the majority of his life in Ozark.
A memorial service will be held 4:00 P. M. Sunday, January 29, 2012, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend David Parrish officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Sunday from 2:00 P. M. until service time.
Mr. Sasser served in the U.S. Army in World War II and later retired from the Alabama National Guard. He served many years in public education, as football coach at Carroll High School, principal at Ozark Jr. High School and D. A. Smith Jr. High School, and president of the former Alabama Aviation and Technical College. Mr. Sasser served in the Alabama Legislature 1974-1986 and later as chief of staff for Governor Fob James.
Mr. Sasser was married to the late Katherine Johnston Sasser and to Eva King Sasser. He is survived by a son, James T. Sasser, Birmingham; a daughter, Kay (Ray) Jacoby, Montgomery; a step-son Ashley Brian Miller (Cynthia), Alabaster; granddaughters, Katie, Martha, and Ann Carter Sasser; step-grandsons, Baylor Williams,Ben Miller, Matt and Dylan Jacoby; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Marie Olive, Montgomery, and Carolyn and Ray Langham, Brewton; several nieces and nephews.
